Marisa Padilla, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #136357

Welcome! My name is Marisa(she/her) and I received my Master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University, as well as my Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from University of California, San Diego. I have a passion for supporting individuals in healing and growing from challenging experiences while empowering them to take steps to live a more meaningful and authentic life.

My therapy style is a non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and thoughtful approach that allows space for you to safely explore, discover, and develop new insights. I strive to genuinely connect with you and support you in increasing emotional awareness, finding strength in vulnerability, developing a sense of control, and taking actions that are in line with your unique values.

My clinical experience includes work with all age ranges in settings including intensive outpatient programs (IOP), psychiatric hospitals, schools, and in-home outreach. I specialize in work with adolescents, young adults, and families who face challenges in managing depression, anxiety, relationships and communication, life transitions, grief, trauma, addiction, cultural identity issues, and gender identity issues. I find value in providing support during this important stage of development through empowering, encouraging, and affirming approaches.

I am well-versed in treating mood, thought and behavioral disorders using evidenced-based practices including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) modalities across individual and family settings. I have also received trainings and provided group therapy support in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed care.

It is my hope that we can work together to create lasting change, and an increased sense of fulfillment in your life. I look forward to being a part of your healing journey.

When I am not working, I enjoy long runs, trying new restaurants, catching sunsets at the beach, traveling, going to concerts, and taking care of my plants.
